RTÉ | 100 - The Signal

Piranha Bar goes on a century long journey in this epic new spot for national broadcaster RTÉ to mark the anniversary of the first public broadcast signal in 1926. Using daringly varied animation styles to capture the twists and turns of a nation over decades, the new minute long film follows the evolution of a broadcast signal wave from the first radio broadcast to the advent of TV and digital technology.
The dream brief saw the studio leaping from simple 2D line drawn animation to animated illustration, advanced particle simulations and AI workflows within one film, all backed by a rich soundtrack from Ireland’s Folding Waves to bring the feels.
Thrilled to be part of this celebration of Irish broadcasting and see animation used to revisit the past and herald the future.
